At first glance, Nachapon may seem like an average guy. But behind the humble demeanor is a master builder whose LEGO® creations make every fan’s jaw drop. His world is filled with bricks, gears, and mind-bending engineering feats.
Hailing from Thailand, Nachapon is an Adult Fan of LEGO® (AFOL), a part-time LEGO® digital designer, and a proud father whose passion for the bricks reignited when he started playing with his son. His story is one of rediscovery, engineering brilliance, and a deep love for LEGO®.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Nachapon for an exclusive interview, diving into his journey, his inspirations, and how his background in civil engineering shapes his approach to building some of his most iconic LEGO® designs.
From Civil Engineer to LEGO® Engineer
Nachapon’s journey into the world of LEGO® wasn’t exactly a straight line. With a background in civil engineering, Nachapon spent 10 years studying in Taiwan. Studying structures and designs for a decade helped him master the art of building LEGO® creations that don’t just look cool but actually function.
“I’m not the most skilled,” he admits with a chuckle, “but my works are more beautiful.” His approach isn’t about complexity—it’s about crafting something visually and aesthetically pleasing.
The Pinball Masterpiece: A Custom LEGO® Marvel
When we asked Nachapon about his favorite creation, his eyes lit up. "The pinball machine," he says with pride.
This isn’t just any LEGO® build; it's a triple-decker pinball machine with six flippers, robots that automatically reset the pins, and a whopping 17,000 pieces! Powered by LEGO® NXT robotics, this creation even incorporates digital components to automate some functions, making it more than just a static display.
It’s no surprise that this marvel is making waves not just among AFOLs but in the wider LEGO® community as well. Nachapon encourages fans to vote for it on the LEGO Ideas website to potentially see it become an official set!
A Roller Coaster That Defies Gravity
As if the pinball machine wasn’t enough, Nachapon also created the first-ever double helix LEGO® roller coaster. This innovative design features loops, twists, and turn elements that further cements his place as one of the most creative minds in the LEGO® universe. His roller coaster received 10,000 votes on Rebrickable and is currently under review by LEGO®.
Tuk-Tuks & Digital Designs
Beyond building epic LEGO® machines, Nachapon also dabbles in the digital realm. His work with Unreal Engine allows him to bring his ideas to life in ways that push the limits of creativity. When he’s not creating physical models, he’s freelancing, building digital LEGO® models, and designing mini-games for LEGO® fans.
One of his proudest digital creations? A LEGO® tuk-tuk, a tribute to his Thai roots. You can find the tuk-tuk design featured on the DD Bricks website for anyone who wants to add a little piece of Thailand to their LEGO® collection.
Nachapon’s Take on DD Bricks and LEGO® as Gifts
Before wrapping up our chat, we couldn’t resist asking Nachapon about his thoughts on DD Bricks. He quickly praised the company’s rapid growth and large inventory, stating, "DD Bricks is growing fast with a lot of employees!" He also noted how DD Bricks helps LEGO® fans save on shipping costs compared to other platforms.
Nachapon even suggested that DD Bricks could explore artwork on LEGO® parts to create more customized, one-of-a-kind pieces.
As for LEGO® as corporate gifts, Nachapon sees immense value in the idea. "LEGO® sets, especially limited editions, can turn into high-value collectibles over time," he explained. He also pointed out the practical aspect: LEGO® gifts can be resold later by the recipient if needed.
When we mentioned that DD Bricks specializes in custom LEGO® orders, Nachapon was all for it. "I love custom LEGO® sets," he said enthusiastically. "They’re very special because they’re personalized, and that makes them unique."
